Week 8 Review - I did it all with the rookies
Well folks week 8 is in the books and with it definitive proof that all of my match-ups are won on Thursday night. This week I can't wait to start (checks schedule) Tevin Coleman against the Cardinals. Ouch, sorry Raeanne looks like I'm winning 2 in a row.
Anyway this article is about week 8 so let's get back to Sunday. The Falcons actually managed to show up in their loss to Seattle, New Orleans and The Rams did cruise past their opposition quite comfortably. The 49ers destroyed Carolina and on current form are this years favourites to blow it against New England at the start of February. In the late window the Chiefs lost again as an Aaron Rodgers led Green Bay went up 2 scores in the first quarter. Kansas need Mahomes back quickly before the wheels come right off their season. On Monday night the Dolphins also jumped out to a 2 TD lead before remembering the seasons objective and allowing the Steelers to take the W come full time.
In this weeks Cadle Bowl action, Mason Crosby kicked Raeanne to victory which resulted in Lewis avoiding a night in the shed. If Lewis was willing to take the night in the Bridge of Dons finest AirBnB here's a list of quarterbacks he could have played over Baker to give him the extra 2.6 points; Stafford, Dalton, Carr, Jones, Rudolph, Tannehill, Moore and from his own bench Minshew but no Lewis has to play Mayfield against the New England monster before benching him this week. Some things never change, death, taxes and Lewis shitting it when playing his better half.
Next up I finally got back to winning ways, even if it was only against Emo. After taking a lead on Thursday I finally got a competent display from my RBs and Julio (the Mighty Ducks guy, I swear to god) putting me out of sight long before James Connor took to the field for Ryan on Monday.
After repeatedly being called out by me for winning with shitty scorelines the Craft Cowboys showed up and played lights out to rack up this weeks biggest scoreline. a healthy performance from Smithys Green Bay stack and Edelman being next man up to get the points for the Patriots put him well out of sight on Sunday night and of some cold comfort to Strawbs is the fact that despite being in real danger of returning permanently to benching all of his points each week there is nothing he could have done here.
That's Not Snowflake are starting to get a bit of traction now, taking their second win on the bounce while condemning Chris to his second loss in a row. Craig will be hoping he hasn't left it too late to make the playoffs and will be looking to keep his momentum going over the rest of the regular season. However there are still big gaps in his roster that top games from Latavius Murray and Mike Evans have papered over this week. For Chris only Dalvin Cook has scored more points than his Patriots D and its yet to be seen whether this is sustainable deep into the post season.
Last up Wee Dave continues to show his utter contempt for fantasy football by once again cruising to victory with little effort applied while on holiday in the city of Angels. Rumour has it, it took Lauren several hours to explain to Dave how the games were on in the morning and not in the evening, several toy cows were used in the explanation. Stew meanwhile Strawbs'd it (the Cadle Bowl version of Hibsing it) when he continued rolling all the Rams and got a goose egg in return. The knowledge he left enough points on his bench won't be enough to keep him warm in the cold wind of the post season wilderness.
That's the week 8 review, a week that offered me a tantalising glimmer of hope that will undoubtedly be snatched away again next weekend. Enjoy Halloween, unless you happen to be in Kilmarnock cause they apparently celebrate it on the last Friday of October, so you've missed it. Oh and if you are dressing up your costume will never be as good as the time we threw some random dressing up items at Stew and he ended up looking like Elton John, also Emo had a wheelchair that night, which broke and he had to carry around with him.
See you soon with the week 9 preview.
