Week 4 - Getting back to work
Well folks its Friday and as per league rules the race is on to see who can get the most drunk the quickest. Current drunk champ Lewis is a firm favourite to lead the league again but all it takes is a cheeky Saturday off for Stew and this competition is wide open. This has been a quiet week for me with little action in the way of cans, Wee Dave took a scenic whistlestop tour of the Scottish islands while Emo took a whistlestop tour of London before his glorious return to Aberdeen, hope he didn't bother unpacking.
This week in football has been quiet so far, the joys of AB not being in the league! The biggest news of the week is Melvin Gordon reporting for duty for exactly the same amount of money as he was on before his hold out. In terms of successful negotiations this one can only be described as brexitesque and in true brexit fashion he may actually find himself out of pocket due to self inflicted fines being enforced by the Bolts. Elsewhere I saw that you can now buy Gardner Minshew merch on the interwebs and the new Giants QB has been given the nickname Danny Dimes, proving that not everything in life is a hit.
In football the Eagles traveled to Green Bay for Thursday night football and came away with a win after standing the Pack up twice in the red zone. Despite this Rodgers still put up a healthy score for the first time this season and left Smithy with a nice Friday lead in our match-up (fuck my life).
Notable highlights from Sundays early slate include the Chargers being next up to thrash the Dolphins. The 3-0 Chiefs take on the 3-0 Lions with Mahomes looking to be the first QB ever to throw 3 TDs and zero interceptions over the first 4 games, the Lions game plan meanwhile is to somehow go straight from the first quarter to the second half.
In Baltimore, the Ravens will be looking to treat the Browns O-line and Baker likeWee Dave used to treat his dates any self respecting Baltimorian would treat a visitor from Cleveland, i.e. badly.
In the late window the Seahawks take on the Cardinals in a short man QB match up with both Kyler and Russell measuring up at under 6 feet tall. It is yet to be seen if the use of ladders or scaffolding will be permitted in this game.
The late window could be turnover central with lots of big boy defences coming out to play, the Vikings face off against the Bears and the Jags travel to Mile High to face the Broncos.
Prime time is all about name recognition with the Cowboys squaring up to the Saints in New Orleans and on Monday the Bengals travel to Pittsburgh, wait jesus, even by MNF standards that is fucking grim, good luck staying up for that one Stew.
Speaking of Stew its time to round up this weeks Cadle Bowl action and what better place to start than at the bottom. After Cregles emphatic win last week I have been thinking that I've perhaps not given him all due respect so this week I've actually done a write up of his match.
Stew has taken a slim lead from Thursday night into Sunday and will be hoping to keep it. Stew desperately needs to win this one and is hoping lightening won't strike twice for Cregles. A win here would leave the Untradeables and Snowflake on the same score. Cregles meanwhile will be hoping to build on last weeks fantastic win with another here.re.
Raeanne will be desperate not to fall to a second defeat in a row, like Raeanne I would also like this as so far her complaints about the draft have been kept to a minimum, if she can't get past beach body ready SJ1 in this game that may change. Raeanne is relying on her passing game here while Strawbs is hoping for big points from his rushers. Ekeler is playing for his position now and what better team to do it against than the Dolphins.
Next up Ryan takes on Chris hoping for big things from more than just his QB. If Emo can come out of Monday night with Conner giving him the win against the leagues resident Steelers homer he will be delighted and more importantly will peg both teams on a .500 record. Chris meanwhile is hoping that he can build on the 23 point game from Adams in plenty of time to put this game to bed so that he has one less thing to worry about while watching the Steelers suck on MNF.
After last weeks mauling I face off against the leagues resident sexual deviantWee Dave Emo Strawbs Smithy. On paper this was due to be a tight affair with me edging it, so obviously Smithy went straight ahead and put up 40 points on Thursday. I'm hoping my all star receiving corp can get me over the top while hoping that Shaunny is relying on uncle Bill a little too much in this affair. A Smithy win here leaves me in the shit and wishing that I had altered the season schedule when I had the chance.
Finally Dave takes on Lewis in a match up that guarantees the winner at least a tied spot at the leagues summit with either Raeanne or Strawbs. Lewis QB woes may continue here as you have to expect Baker to be in for a rough ride from the Ravens, his confidence already looks shot and may not have a chance to improve here in a tough match. Also of worry is his week 1 blow up at tight end, TJ has done nothing since but the position is a garbage fire in a wasteland of mediocrity so Lewis finds his options limited. Dave has set a legal line up for the fourth week in a row and should be congratulated.
Once again that's it, I'm nearly finished work for the week (think I will get wine tonight) and its time to drink like Stew Small at a work colleagues 18th birthday party. Whatever you're doing enjoy, hope you score over 100 points, unless you're playing me and remember be like Zammo, don't be a dick.
